King Edwards VI Lordswood Archives
Lordwood Grammar-Technical School for Girls opened in 1958, since then it has changed its name several times, but the heart of Lordswood has always been and will always be ‘community’.
Miss Jenkins (the first headteacher of Lordwood) writes in the school magazine about how, in just one year, the school had ‘coalesced into one friendly community, where mutual appreciation and goodwill had stimulated everyone’s helpfulness and co-operation’. Even now, I could use exactly the same words to describe our current school community.
We are proud of our history and as such have compiled an amazing collection of artifacts that narrate the rich history of our school, much of which was initially sorted under the school stage. We were concerned that these important documents could become damaged if not preserved correctly. We have been working with Charlotte Gallant the Archivist from the KEVI foundation office to ensure that these documents are being preserved correctly. She has been working really hard to digitise as many of these artifacts as possible so they are available for everyone to enjoy without any damage being made to the original document.
